SEA CORP Comes in 2nd as One of the Best Places to Work in RI in 2011

SEA CORP, on its first try, came in second on the list of 15 finalists for the Providence Business News "Best Places to Work in RI" evaluation. SEA CORP decided to apply for the evaluaiton because it would provide the Company a look at how its practices and program compared to other companies in RI and to get an independent appraisal of how it was percieved by its employees. 250 employees we sent questionnaires. The reply rate was over 90 percent. The final ranking was not announced until the Best Places to Work in RI banquet at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI on June 9, 2011 where 20 SEA CORP employees were on hand. Company President, Larry Willner, accepted the award on behalf of the Company.

SEA CORP Wins Contract for Continued Support to Navy Missile Systems

SEA CORP won a $3.5 Million contract to support the Missiles/Precision Strike Division, Systems Engineering Branch of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport in the design, development, acquisition and operational readiness of test vehicles associated with submarine and surface-launched missile systems. SEA CORP will perform engineering services in the planning, execution, and evaluation of TOMAHAWK missile flight tests. The work includes providing technical and data analysis support for the flight test program and preparing updates and launch platform inputs to missile flight test plans and reports, providing engineering services in the design, development, maintenance, and testing of equipment utilized to collect and process missile/submarine weapon system data. SEA CORP Senior Vice President Robert McDevitt commented, “This award has SEA CORP continuing work in supporting Navy missile systems – a support job that we have been doing for over 15 years. We are proud to have the Navy award this contract again to us to continue our excellent support to the Navy for the Tomahawk missile that has recently performed superbly in the recent support to NATO forces assisting the conflict in Libya.”

SEA CORP President Meets with New Rhode Island Governor

SEA CORP President, Larry Willner, was part of a small group of Defense contractor leaders who met with Rhode Island's new Chief Executive, Governor Lincoln Chafee. The January 14, 2011 meeting, held at the Pell Center for International Realtions at Salve Regina University brought together about a dozen key business leaders in the Defense support community. With the Defense support community being a significant part of RI's economy and work force, the new Governor wanted to hear the leaders' concerns and how the State's leadership could help build this important business sector.

SEA CORP Lands Two Significant Wins in the 2010-3 SBIR Competition

The FY 2010-3 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract awards have issued and SEA CORP has come up with a couple significant wins. These Phase I Awards are for contracts of up to $150,000 in Phase I and up to $750,000 in Phase II. The SBIR Program is an important part of SEA CORP’s business model that provides us additional funding and more streamlined contracting rules that allow for significantly large Phase III follow-on contracts with minimal competition. SEA CORP has a “Commercialization Rating” of 95 out of 100 when compared to our SBIR competitors. The winning proposals are:

Adaptive Fusion for Real time Threat Assessment

This effort will develop an innovative adaptive fusion network that incorporates available knowledge in a given RF data collection scenario in order to provide the most accurate threat assessment possible. SEA CORP’s efforts include the services of Teolis Consulting.

Service Oriented Service-Oriented Architecture Solution for Multi-Unmanned control of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Capability Core Unmanned Control System (CUCS).

This award was for SEA CORP as a subcontractor to Defense Technology Inc. This technology will enable submarines to better control multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to increase effectiveness in the areas of Over-The-Horizon data gathering, support to Special Operations Forces and provide for extended Command and Control Capability.

Launcher Work Continues Under New Phase III SBIR Navy Contract

SEA CORP's launcher work, that uses innovative application of automotive air bag inflator technology, will continue under a follow-on work contract issued by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The $15 Million contract is to continue to support the Launchers Department at the Naval Undersea Warafer Center, Division Newport in developing advanced delivery systems for weapons.

SEA CORP PART OF MIKEL TEAM AWARDED $12 MILLION TO SUPPORT FUTURE SONAR DEVELOPMENT

SEA CORP was just awarded, as a subcontractor to MIKEL, Inc., part of a $12 Million contract to support NUWC Code 15 to provide technical and analytical services to assess and evaluate the performance of current and future submarine sonar systems. This includes the development of test plans for laboratory and at-sea assessment of system performance, development of analysis tools and metrics to assess performance, development of improved Sonar Signal and Data Processing algorithms, and evaluation of sonar performance during submerged submarine operations in support of the ARCI Engineering Measurement Program (AEMP).Mike Jones is tha manger of the SEA CORP Business Area of Sensor and Sonar Systems Support that will be managing this contract effort.

SEA CORP in Top Ten in Fastest Growing RI Businesses

In the Providence Business News 2010 list of Top and Fastest Growing Private Companies in Rhode Island (published in the August 30 Issue), SEA CORP is listed as the 10th fastest growing companies at a 57% increase in revenue over the past three years. SEA CORP was also listed as the 27th largest private company in Rhode Island based on fiscal Year 2009 revenue of $64.5Million.

SEA CORP's Groton Office Poised to Double in Size

SEA CORP's Groton facility is expanding its office, conference and warehouse space to more than double the existing area (from 6500 sqf to 14,500 sqf). The additional office space (3500 sqf more) will alleviate an already crowded office in Groton facility, that was caued by new business growth. The new office space will also allow for office working space for employees from the Newport office who desire to be in closer proximity to Electric Boat or the Groton Sub Base. The facility, which will now occupy parts of two buildings at 120A and 115B Leonard Drive in Groton in the Groton Airport Business Park, features over 650 sqf of classified conference space split between the two buildings. The additional 4000 sqf of warehouse space will be used for growing Groton projects and will also be made available to other SEA CORP business areas or rented to customers requiring staging of installation or test materials in closer proximity to either Electric Boat or the Groton Sub Base.

SEA CORP Makes Inc. Magazine’s list of the Fastest Growing Companies for 4th Straight Year

SEA CORP has been placed on the 2010 List of the fastest growing companies in America for the fourth year in a row by Inc. Magazine. SEA CORP ranked #2697 on the Inc 5000 list and was the only company in Rhode Island in the category of Government Services. SEA CORP’s revenue growth over the evaluation period of 2006 to 2009 was 85%. SEA CORP was 8^th of 14 Rhode Island companies named on the list.

SEA CORP Wins SBIR Project for Submarine Receiver Development

SEA CORP has received notice of an award for a project to develop Ultra Wide Bandwidth High Dynamic Range Digital Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Receivers for the Submarine Force under the Navy’s Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Program. This Phase I award is a $100,000 concept development project that can lead to a million dollar prototype development phase and subsequent product commercialization.The technology needed by the Navy will develop a total engineering solution to provide for a 100% probability of intercept of threat electromagnetic signals in today’s dense and complex environment without causing ambiguous of erroneous reports. The technology involves the detection and analysis of threat signals with widely varying parameters. The Navy is also looking for a technical solution that reduces the cost of the currently employed system by 20 percent. The SBIR Program has been a very important element in SEA CORP’s business development strategy. SEA CORP has won a number of SBIRs and has two SBIRs that have been selected as Navy SBIR Success Stories. SEA CORP’s SBIR contracts have provided nearly $40 Million in contract funding to the company. SEA CORP’s Project Manager, Pat Harrington, said, “This is a very complex project that requires the knowledge of not only our top-notch engineers, but also SEA CORPs technicians who have had long careers aboard our submarines and have an in-depth knowledge of the at-sea electronic threat environment.” “We are looking forward to the technology challenge.”, he added.
