The Company

SEA CORP (Systems Engineering Associates Corporation), founded in 1981, is a veteran-owned small business focusing on systems engineering, software, and test and evaluation services. SEA CORP’s core business is providing services to the U.S. Navy, chiefly for submarine electronic systems. Those services range from test and evaluation of existing equipment through the development of new software and documentation for new systems at the leading edge of information technology. In addition, a robust product development team is actively pursuing innovative products and emergent technologies.

The majority of SEA CORP’s workforce is situated in the company’s headquarters in Middletown, Rhode Island. This location in a park-like setting bordering Newport, with its long history of association with the U.S. Navy, is convenient both for the Company’s core business of local Navy support, and for travel to the many other locations where our technical experts provide services. Coastal Rhode Island affords convenient access to major interstate highways, rail and airports. Our modern 24,000 sq. ft. main office building provides well-lighted, climate-controlled workstations for over 130 engineering and technical professionals, meeting rooms, technical libraries, an electronics laboratory and the latest in computer hardware and software tools, fully networked and integrated.

The adjacent SEA Research Center is dedicated to new product development. This newly-renovated facility provides an additional 37,000 square feet of space focused on product development, with dedicated areas for fabrication, inspection and testing of electronic and mechanical equipment.

SEA CORP’s third location is in Groton, CT which provides convenient access to Submarine Base, New London and nearby shipyard. The majority of this space is dedicated to advanced electronics engineering, design, fabrication and testing of special purpose test equipment (SPTE), and special purpose cabling solutions to include commercial and MILSPEC fiber optic installations.

SEA Corp Quality Policy

We are dedicated to providing responsive and leading-edge solutions to our customer’s requirements. We will achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through continuous improvement, teamwork, and education.

System and Software Engineering and Technical Services

SEA CORP’s work with the U.S. Government is provided under a number of long-term (typically five-year) service contracts, which were awarded competitively based on best value. SEA CORP specializes in electronic systems integration and testing & evaluation, with a strong and growing research & development business area. SEA CORP has compiled a consistent record of technical excellence with a solid management foundation.

In addition to its long-term prime contracts for specific programs and projects, the Company functions as a subcontractor to several major aerospace corporations, providing both services and limited-production hardware. SEA CORP has also been awarded a five-year Government-wide contract on the U.S. General Service Administration's (GSA) Professional Engineering Services Schedule. SEA CORP is an authorized Information Technology service provider to all agencies of the State of Rhode Island through a Master Price Agreement contract.

Product Development

Sustained success in research and product development is adding significant value to the Company and promises the continued expansion from services to hardware and software products. The development of some hardware products has been closely associated with our system and software engineering services. Based on our experience in submarine systems, for example, SEA CORP’s engineers developed several electronic interfaces which have been incorporated in Navy ships. In addition to military programs, SEA CORP has developed products and provided services in the fields of education, public administration and health-care.

SEA CORP has also taken advantage of the opportunities for growth afforded by the Federal Government’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program. Leveraging a concept developed and proven during the course of highly successful SBIR projects, the Company is now prepared to take new products to the production stage.

SEA CORP was recently awarded a patent for an “Improved Torpedo Launching Mechanism and Method.” This remarkable invention uses inflators from standard automotive airbags to launch torpedoes and acoustic countermeasures from Navy ships. In recognition of the advantages of this technology, the Navy is proceeding with the qualification process to introduce these launchers into the fleet as its new standard. SEA CORP continues development of this and other products with a strong Internal Research and Development (IRAD) program, demonstrating a commitment to growth through the targeted application of the Company’s financial and personnel resources.

SEA CORP was recently recognized by the Small Business Administration with the presentation, in a Washington ceremony, of the Tibbetts Award, a national-level prize recognizing technological and business excellence.

Future Growth

Since its founding over twenty years ago, SEA CORP has achieved steady growth, despite the shrinking defense market of the last decade. This growth has been due largely to the company’s ability to retain a highly-skilled work force and, at the same time, contain costs through judicious management. The demand for SEA CORP’s services has never been stronger and the forecast is positive; a solid backlog supports a robust business development plan. Recent strong performance in our core engineering services business area coupled with continued success in research and development projects promises sustained growth and increasing diversity. Several developmental products are nearing maturity and are ready to enter the production phase, signaling the potential for more rapid growth in the future and a transition from a service-provider to a full-spectrum technology supplier.
