Navy SBIR Phase I Contract for Situational Awareness and Contact Detection for UUVs Awarded to SEACORP of Middletown, RI

On July 24th, SEACORP, LLC (SEACORP) Middletown, RI was selected for a Phase I contract supporting the Navy under the Federal Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program. This Phase I effort will give SEACORP the opportunity to develop innovative solutions for Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) challenges, especially in detecting vessels and stationary objects.  Work being performed in support of this effort will take place primarily at SEACORP’s Jacksonville facility.

The SBIR program is a three-phase program that offers incentives to businesses of less than 500 employees to allow them to capitalize on their innovative research. The purpose of Phase I is to determine the technical merit and feasibility of the proposed concept. Phase II further explores the scientific merit and commercialization potential of the concept while Phase III focuses on transition to targeted systems and additional commercialized application.

SEACORP Program Manager Gary Donoher commented, “We are excited to utilize our autonomous systems experience to develop a solution for the U.S. Navy. SEACORP continues to excel in the unmanned system realm and is proud to be an active participant in the SBIR program.”
